Leeds Regional Anaesthesia Training Course

We are delighted to announce that the 5th Leeds Regional Anaesthesia Course will take place on April 4th, 5th & 6th, 2011.

Predominantly ultrasound-based in nature and concentrating on peripheral nerve blockade in particular, this course is aimed at senior registrars and consultants with some prior experience in regional anaesthesia. We strongly urge delegates to review the material contained in our course packs prior to arrival. On the morning of Monday April 4th we review relevant anatomical prosections in the department of anatomy of the University of Leeds. Using these prosections, prepared and reserved exclusively for this course, we aim to take delegates through the anatomy relevant to peripheral nerve blockade. In the afternoon, we will concentrate on ultrasound-guided nerve identification and needling techniques. These workshops are conducted by our experts in musculoskeletal radiology and regional anaesthesia.

On Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th delegates will spend full days in theatre where they can see the techniques at first hand. With delegates divided into two groups, these days take place in Chapel Allerton Orthopaedic Centre and the Hand and Plastics Day Surgery Unit at Leeds General Infirmary. In as far as possible the lists on these days are tailored to the needs of this course. For the inevitable down-times between blocks we have models on hand so that delegates may perfect their scanning skills. Delegates will also have an opportunity to review a full range of ultrasound makes and models on the market today provided by our sponsors for the duration of the course.

We hope you will be able to join us and avail of this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in a comprehensive learning environment dedicated to the techniques of regional anaesthesia.
